Patario is a UK start-up made up of EdTech entrepreneurs, commercial operators and learning experts. We think compliance training isn't working and there's a better way, not just to lessen the burden, but to make sure the learning sticks.
We're building a business for the long term, with a focus on making a product that keeps getting better for the businesses that rely on it.
Will started his journey in corporate finance at Investec but it was his own experience in education that gave him the drive to find a better way to learn. Will founded EdPlace in 2011 and grew it into a market leader used by more than 200,000 students. After selling to SEG in 2022 he went to manage a portfolio of tuition companies before leaving to work on new projects as a Venture Partner and Board Advisor. Patario is an amalgamation of Will's deep-rooted understanding around the importance of professional training with his desire to materially improve the learning experience.
Sofia has nearly twenty years of experience growing B2B revenue in the Interiors sector for premium brands, starting her career at Edelman and moving onto Jim Thompson. She has helped smaller teams and companies bring big brand strategy and organisation to deliver meaningful results. Passionate about customer experience, product quality and how to best serve the client, she now heads up the sales and customer experience side of things for Patario: if your team uses Patario, she wants to make sure it works for you.
As a head teacher, Robin led his school to Apple Distinguished School status via a film driven curriculum. He joined Will at EdPlace where he led the creation of more than 3,000 activities and assessments and helped shape the learning experience. He played a key role in the company's Innovate UK supported AI development and the multiple awards the company won. Robin is now Patario's Head of Learning Design; designing courses around what people would actually do, not what they can remember.
Mike is Emeritus Professor of Educational Technology at The Open University and holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence. As Academic Lead for FutureLearn, Mike has shaped how millions learn online around one idea: learning is a conversation. That idea sits at the heart of how Patario works. He has written more than 300 academic papers, including recent work on generative AI in education. He serves as Patario's Using AI Safely at Work course ambassador and is our Academic Advisor, helping to shape and improve Patario's pedagogy.
