1What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage and tracking pixels. We refer to all of these collectively as “cookies” in this policy.
Cookies serve different purposes: some are strictly necessary for the website to work, while others help us understand how people use our site or remember your preferences.
2Our consent mechanism
We use Cookiebot as our cookie consent management platform (CMP).
When you first visit patario.com or app.patario.com, you will be shown a cookie consent banner if you are located in the UK or EU. The banner offers you three choices with equal prominence:
- Accept all — enables all cookie categories
- Reject all — allows only strictly necessary cookies
- Preferences — allows you to choose which categories to enable
Your consent applies across both patario.com and app.patario.com.
Withdrawing consent: You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the Cookie settings link in the footer of any Patario page.
Geographic scope: The consent banner is displayed to visitors in the UK and EU, as required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the EU ePrivacy Directive respectively. Visitors outside these regions will only have strictly necessary cookies active by default, which is the conservative and privacy-protective approach for jurisdictions not covered by those frameworks.
3Cookies we use
3.1Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the platform to function. They do not require your consent under PECR.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
sb-access-token | Supabase (self — app.patario.com) | Authenticated session access token | 1 hour (rolling) |
sb-refresh-token | Supabase (self) | Session refresh; enables seamless re-authentication | Session + 30 days |
__Host-csrf | Patario (self) | CSRF protection for state-changing requests | Session |
CookieConsent | Cookiebot (self) | Stores your cookie consent choices so that the banner does not re-appear on every page visit and your preferences are honoured across the site. Without this cookie, the consent mechanism cannot function. It is therefore strictly necessary to operate a compliant consent framework. | 12 months |
__stripe_mid | Stripe (stripe.com) | Fraud prevention during checkout — set only on checkout pages when you initiate a purchase | 1 year |
__stripe_sid | Stripe (stripe.com) | Fraud prevention — session scope within checkout pages only | 30 minutes |
3.2Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use our site. They are only set if you consent to the Statistics category.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 (google-analytics.com) | Distinguishes unique users for aggregate reporting | 2 years |
_ga_<container> | Google Analytics 4 | Persists session state for the GA4 property | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes users within a 24-hour window | 24 hours |
3.3Marketing cookies
We do not currently use marketing cookies on our website. If we add any in future, we will update this policy and re-display the consent banner.
3.4Functional / preference cookies
We do not currently use functional cookies beyond those listed under strictly necessary. This category is reserved for future use.
4Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by third parties:
- Google Analytics 4 (analytics) — policies.google.com/privacy
- Stripe (payments — checkout pages only) — stripe.com/privacy
- Cookiebot (consent management) — cookiebot.com/en/privacy-policy
We do not control how these third parties use data collected through their cookies. Please review their policies for full details.
5Managing cookies in your browser
Most browsers also allow you to manage cookies directly through their settings. You can typically block or delete cookies, though please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent key parts of the platform from functioning, including login and session management. Refer to your browser’s help documentation for guidance specific to your browser and version.
6Changes to this policy
We will update this Cookie Policy whenever we add or remove cookies from our services. Material changes will trigger a re-display of the consent banner so that you can review and reconfirm your preferences.
